Your home plus quirky, retro caravan park in stunning location

House - Nowa Nowa VIC

Your two bedroom home plus a business with personality, the Nowa Nowa Camping and Caravan Park is situated beside the environmentally and culturally important Nowa Nowa Gorge – home of the Boggy Creek (Nukka Kowirra). This waterway mingles with the salt water of Lake Tyers (Bung Yarnda) just below the park. Swim in fresh water, home to water dragons, kingfishers and lyrebirds, fish in saltwater and watch the sea eagles. The former Bairnsdale – Orbost rail line (now the East Gippsland Rail trail) crosses the Boggy Creek at the edge of the park.

Some house photos are at the end of the gallery.

A caravan park since 1962 rejuvenated whilst respecting the park’s history and quirkiness. The open camp kitchen catches the morning sun and with a fire pot and pizza oven invites international and domestic travellers to socialise.

Bike riders, walkers, fishing folk, campers, musicians, airbnb travellers enjoy the 1950’s ‘retro vans’ or 1970s vans. Families wanting more comfort stay in the self-contained Gorge House (sub-let from owners). All share the million star accommodation.

Feels like we walked into the backyard of my childhood. What an absolute wonder. Thank you for keeping the wonderment of yesteryears with just the right amount of mod-cons.

Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality. It was second to none. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your 1950’s caravan. We absolutely love all things from that era, when life was way less stressful, as now. I always love coming back to this place with new groups of over-seas students. (Traralgon)

A beautiful spot and great camp kitchen. Perfect to celebrate ‘Dutch Christmas’ Sinterklaas. Thank you. (also for the campfire). Dutchies.

Thanks for making this campground the way it is. We liked it a lot! (Berlin/Germany)

The 18 registered sites include two permanent residents (own accommodation) and two long term holiday tenants also in their own accommodation. Both invest in the park. Four on-site 1970s vans (ready for restoration) two 1950s retro-vans are in demand and six campsites (power optional). There is an office is on site, laundromat and wi-fi. 4.8 kw solar panels recently installed.

Walking distance to the pub, general store and café. A health centre, primary school and kindergarten are nearby as is a petanque court, recreation reserve, mountain bike track, and wetland walks. V Line buses connect with rail to Melbourne twice a day.

The house looks over the gorge and East Gippsland’s climate is kind to gardeners. Fruit trees, covered in garden, plus a chook yard have been established. The property is on two titles.

Sit a while on the bank of the Boggy and experience the peacefulness. Consider whether you could enjoy the lifestyle and location.

Nowa Nowa is on the Melbourne – Sydney coastal route attracting thousands of international travellers annually, many seeking the art networks, and the experience of forests, waterways and local food we offer.
