This home was built with the aim of providing a home that was comfortable and modern to live in while being as eco-friendly as possible.

This three bedroom, three ensuite house is of Rammed Earth construction with screened windows, mostly louvred, capturing the prevailing breezes.

With ceiling fans in every room, including the verandas and a wood burning fire, this house is very comfortable to live in both summer and winter. The bamboo floorboards and the insulated Colourbond roof make for an incredibly low maintenance and eco-friendly home.

The 6.5 kW PV solar array and a state of the art evacuated tube solar hot water system make the house very energy efficient, often providing a credit on the power bill. However, during occasional blackouts, at the flip of a switch a generator can be brought on line for power until the grid power is restored.

With extensive vegie gardens, established free range chicken pens and also a wide variety of fruit trees including avocados, citrus, mulberries, macadamias, mangoes and others, the property provides everything needed for a very self-sufficient lifestyle. There is even a wine and preserves cellar, and a large shed complete with workshop, store room and amenities.

There is nearly 70,000 L of rainwater storage in tanks plus a dam with electric pump and dedicated 22,000 L tank which provides all of the water needs for any livestock and garden.

In 2018 and 19 the home was opened up for the annual Government sponsored sustainable house day. In appreciation, and a certificate showing that we were acknowledged in Hansard by the Hon. Ben Franklin, National Member of the Legislative Council.
